UMBRIAN WINDOW (2000), BY BOB RANKIN
ACQUIRED FROM THE ARTIST, RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA, MAY 2000
ACRYLIC ON COMPOSITION BOARD
This work, like many of his other works from late 1999 and 2000, was inspired by Bob's summer 1999 trip to the Umbria region of Italy. It's very similar to both Stone Wall 1 and Metropolis with respect to layout and structure, and it shares some common colors with both works, as well.

This work earned its name because of an accidental "feature" in the upper part of the work... to Bob, it resembles the frame of a window. Because the work was inspired by his Umbria trip, the name Umbrian Window seemed just right. It's a cool name for a cool work of art.
