PLAIN BLACK AND WHITE PLANE (2000), BY BOB RANKIN
ACQUIRED FROM THE ARTIST, RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA, DECEMBER 2000
ACRYLIC ON COMPOSITION BOARD
This work is very similar to Bob's work Umbrian Window in appearance, but the color scheme is very reminiscent of his earlier work Spectrum 1. This work, however, does not even have the small stripe of color featured in Spectrum 1... it's just black and white and shades of grey.

Bob's name for this work is a clever pun on the words "plain" (because it's just black and white) and "plane" (because it's flat). I really like this name.
